Village and South Orange Library Awarded $500,000 N.J. Historic Trust Grant for Connett Building

Connett Memorial Library

The Village and the South Orange Library were notified today that we have been awarded a $500,000 New Jersey Historic Trust Preservation Grant for the rehabilitation and repair of the Connett Memorial Library Building.

The grant will offset a substantial portion of the cost of much needed repairs to the exterior of the Connett building, including the replacement of all doors and windows and significant masonry and brick repairs.  These repairs follow the recently completed replacement of the slate roof on the Connett Memorial Library building that was funded in part by a $150,000 Essex County Open Space and Historic Preservation Trust Grant.  The Village anticipates going out to bid and completing these much needed repairs in 2018.
