The Pierro Gallery of South Orange presents four artists in anexhibition titled “Anecdotes: Narrative Paintings.” from March 12-April 30. The artists include; Erinn Frayer, Wendy Letven, Philip Shimko and Nicholas Rosal. The works of art by each artist are narrative in nature. The opening reception will be on Sunday, March 12 from 3-5pm. Artists’ Gallery talk at 2pm preceeding the reception.
Wendy Letven from Glen Ridge, NJ creates paintings that explore themes with a psychological, social nature.Many of her paintings are of women gathered together in groups who are smiling or laughing dressed in 1950’s attire. Letven has her MFA from HunterCollege and her work has been seen at various galleries including including City Without Walls in Newark and AllentownArt Museum.
Erinn Frayer from Jersey City, NJ creates paintings of places or communities that are familiar to the viewer.These are painted stills of creeping sprawl that eventually begin to cluster into generic neighborhoods.These depictions are comments about the artists concerns about desires, consumerism and the alteration of nature.She has received her MFA in painting from MontclairStateUniversity and has exhibited throughout New York and New Jersey.
