Volunteers help in presenting the
cultural programs and events through the department. Working
with the Assistant Director for the Department, all aspects of
operations are managed by volunteers through the three organizations
responsible for most of the cultural events through the department:
Pierro Gallery of South Orange, Arts in the Park and Friends
of the Arts. The amount of time each month can usually be personalized
to fit schedules
The Pierro
Gallery of South Orange is a highly reputable fine art
gallery presenting six openings per year plus a winter craft
sale and other special events. Volunteers are voted onto the
Executive and Exhibition Committee that is responsible for selecting
and overseeing all operations. Volunteers are also needed to
gallery assist during open hours, for hospitality, mailing lists,
hanging exhibitions, special events and programs, graphic design,
publicity, grant writing, fundraising etc.

Arts in the
Park, the performing arts division, sponsors four free
outdoor concerts in the park, a Fall and Spring Jazz Series and
the Giants of Jazz concert. They have also developed a highly
reputable name among its audience as well as with performers.
Volunteers are on the Advisory Panel who select performers and
schedule acts. Others are needed as ushers, set-up, mailing lists,
special events and programs, graphic design, fundraising, publicity
etc.

Friends of the
Arts is the fundraising support group for all cultural
arts programs through the department. This group organizes, designs,
plans events and distributes materials and information.
The amount of energy and involvement is
up to the volunteer, but it’s guaranteed there are many opportunities
to make an impact in the community and meet new and interesting
people.
