The Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs hires Camp Counselors each year for its Summer Camp Program (complete job description attached above). This program is a 7 week, half day program for South Orange children ages 4 through grade 8. The program begins in late June and ends in mid-August. (Program details are available at www.thebaird.org). Candidates must be at least 16 years of age, attend pre-camp counselor training and be available for the entire 7 weeks of the program. Applications (attached)  are accepted at the Baird  beginning in January each year.

Position:Crossing Guard Download application Here
 The Police Department is currently looking to hire individuals for the position of Crossing Guard in a “fill-in” capacity, with the possibility of being hired on a permanent basis. Individuals must be 18 years of age and be in good health with good vision and hearing; and attend a short training and safety course prior to their start. Starting pay is $16.52 per hour, with posts in the morning, mid-day and afternoon and of varying lengths. Position:Administrative Assistant  
 

The Township of South Orange Village is looking for a charismatic individual to work full-time within its Department of Public Works. Under the supervision of the Director of Public Works you will be the linchpin of the office, the glue that binds everyone together and the first person residents will approach with questions or concerns, which can range from the serious downed tree, to just needing a to know when recycling is picked up. With a range of responsibilities at your feet, you need to be a multi-tasker, jack-of-all trades and a dedicated self-starter.

The successful candidate will have a strong customer service background with a good understanding of a basic Windows computer system and Microsoft Office (WORD, EXCEL, and Outlook or GMAIL email system). You must be able to pick up specific softwares quickly and have a problem solving initiative.  The ability to prepare letters, reports and purchase orders as well as keep an organized smooth running office will be essential.
