There are 2 events coming up to address the concerns and needs of our Black and Brown community members who are most impacted by COVID19. If you are in one of the target groups, we are asking you to participate, and if you are not, or to pass the information to neighbors and friends in the local Black and Latinx communities.
The first event is a virtual Coffee House Discussion sponsored by both the Community Coalition on Race and South Orange Village to discuss COVID19 Vaccine and the Black Community on Sunday, February 28 at 4:00 PM. This discussion features a panel moderated by Professor Khalil Gibran Muhammad and includes Black medical professionals and a Black Pfizer executive who will share facts and answer questions. The event is free with no registration required. Simply click here to join on Sunday: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87166142529. Please also share this link widely.
The second effort is a COVID Vaccine Focus Group sponsored by the Maplewood Health Department, and participation is open to South Orange and Maplewood residents in the targeted groups. Registration is required by March 1 for a separate session with the Black Community on Thursday March 4th and another session for the Latinx Community on Tuesday, March 9th. To participate, contact Taliah Jeffries at 973-309-4178, tjeffers@twp.maplewood.nj.us and use "Focus Group" as the subject.
Let's legitimize SOMA's value as a Beloved Community by doing our part to support these important efforts.
