YA Author Discussion: May 13 at 4 PM; SOPL
Authors will discuss their work, the importance of inclusion as authors and for characters as well as the influence in creating their stories to appeal to readers particularly of upper elementary (middle grade) and middle and high school students.
Virtual Sake Tasting: May 14 at 7 PM; Neighbors Wine Shop

Municipal Election

South Orange Village Clerk Ojetti Davis reminds voters that the Municipal Election is Tuesday, May 11, 2021. For those voting in person, the polling sites will be open from 6 AM - 8 PM.
NOTE: Voting districts 1, 6 & 8 currently vote in the following locations.

  • District 1: Jubilee Hall at Seton Hall University (formerly the Italian American Center)
  • Districts 6 & 8: South Orange Middle School (formerly The Baird Center)

VOTE BY MAIL BALLOTS: For voters who have requested and received their Vote by Mail Ballots, the Safe and Secured Essex County Election Ballot Drop Box is located in the Gazebo across from the South Orange Fire Station (56 Sloan St).

Moderna Vaccines Available- May 15 8-11 AM

On Saturday, May 15, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am, Town & Country Pharmacy will be administering COVID-19 Moderna vaccines at the church of St. Andrew & Holy Communion, located at 160 West South Orange, in South Orange, NJ, on the corner of North Ridgewood Road.  Anyone who is at least 18 years old and has a form of ID is eligible for an appointment. 

To register for an appointment, please call or email the Church office at 973-763-2355, or sahcoffice@gmail.com.
Someone is available to answer the phone on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 9:30 am to 2:30 am.  Parking is available in the NJ Transit parking lot.

Visit Downtown on Saturday, May 15 and Sunday, May 16 for a special weekend of local shopping! The sidewalks will be filled with special offers like deals of the day, flash sales & more. Reading w. Poets 5/2021

Virtual Reading With Poets

The South Orange Dept. of Cultural Affairs & Watershed Literary Events present a virtual reading with poets.
Watershed Literary Events, a spoken-word series sponsored by the Department of Cultural Affairs in South Orange, will host its second virtual reading of the year on Sunday, May 16, at 2 pm.  
The event will feature Columbia High School graduate and Maine poet laureate Stuart Kestenbaum and Maplewood poet and photographer Rachelle Parker. This event is free and open to the public and will feature a Q&A after the reading.
