Farmers Market

Stop by the Sloan Street parking lot every Wednesday from 2 - 7 PM, June through October to pick up your fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, freshly baked breads, nuts, meats, pickles, olives, homemade ice cream, apple cider soul food and so much more. Public Works Events

Paper Shred Day- Public Works will provide document shredding service to the residents of South Orange on Saturday, October 9 from 8 am until noon or until truck is full at Waterlands Park. Proof of residency is required to participate in this event. Commercial volume of documentation will not be accepted. If you have any questions, you can contact the Public Works Department at 973-378-7741 x1.

Senior Freeze Property Tax Reimbursement- 10/5; 1 PM via Zoom
SOMA Two Towns and the NJ Taxation University will have a presentation on the Senior Freeze Property Tax Reimbursement Program. Deadline Date to file is November 1, 2021.

Tech Teens Helping Seniors Fall Series- 1st & 3rd Saturdays Oct- Dec; 10 AM at SOPL
Dates are 10/2, 10/16, 11/6, 11/20, 12/4, 12/18, 10 AM. Sign up at the Reference Desk, call the library (973)762-0230, or send an email to librarian@sopl.org with the subject line: Tech Teens Helping Seniors.
SOMA on the MOVE Walk- 10/5 at 11 AM Meet at the corner of Yale and Springfield Avenue in Maplewood.
We will take Route #4 to view the Springfield Ave. Murals and the grounds of the Hilton Branch Library. The full walk is about 2 miles and should take about an hour. You will have the opportunity to leave after 1 mile if needed.
SAVE THE DATE Repair Café- 10/16; 1 - 4 PM;
Maplewood Senior Center parking lot, 106 Burnett Ave.
For this event, we recruit volunteer local repair experts to lend their talents and skills to fix items for residents that would have been thrown away. To register to have an item repaired for free, please e-mail soma2towns@gmail.com with the subject Repair Café. You can also call us at 973-558-0863 to schedule a time.

Want to get more involved in your community? Attend a meeting. You will get a first-hand look at all the ins and outs of our town and it is a great way to participate and make a difference in the town.
