Vote-By-Mail Ballot Application Deadline

The deadline to apply for a Vote-by-Mail Ballot by Mail for General Election is October 26, 2021. To get a Vote by Mail application, you may download it at www.essexclerk.com, or pick one up in person from South Orange Village Municipal Clerk's office. Completed applications should be mailed directly to the Essex County Clerk.

Farmers Market

Stop by the Sloan Street parking lot every Wednesday from 2 - 7 PM, June through October to pick up your fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, freshly baked breads, nuts, meats, pickles, olives, homemade ice cream, apple cider soul food and so much more. SOMA Two Towns for All Ages

PTR-1 Applications- Applications are available for the Senior Freeze Property Tax Program for first time and previously denied applicants. Filing deadline is November 1, 2021. Applications are available at the following locations:
South Orange Tax Collector's Office- 76 South Orange Suite 302.
Maplewood Town Hall- 574 Valley Street. Ask a township employee to check the SOMA Two Towns mailbox.
Maplewood Senior Center- 106 Burnett Ave. Please call prior to visit 973-763-0750 or email
soma2towns@gmail.com.

Public Works Events

Leaf Season- Leaf pickup will be held from Monday, October 25 through Wednesday, December 8. Please use the Community Map and check "Leaf Map" to keep track of pickup schedule. For County roads, please refer to the schedule posted here or call (973) 239-3366. Please follow the Leaf Season guidelines to prevent possible code violations:

  • Leaves should be piled no more than four feet from the curb, and must not extend into traffic lanes. 
  • Leaves may be placed in brown biodegradable for pickup, plastic bags are not permitted and will not be collected.  
  • Leaves can be raked into gutters during leaf season only. Any rake out after this time will be in violation of municipal ordinances and the leaves will not be picked up.
  • During leaf pick-up season, no debris other than leaves are permitted in the streets and will not be picked up. 
  • Residents must refer to the Leaf Map to ensure leaves are being placed out only when their zone shows "open" in green.  When the map reflects red in a zone residents are not permitted to place leaves out and will be subject to a penalty for violation of Township ordinances.
  • Residents are responsible to notify their landscapers/contractors to place leaves out according to Township guidelines.
Metal Pickup- On Tuesday, October 26, DPW  will pickup metal recyclables for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup.
Household Bulk Pickup- On Thursday, October 28, DPW will collect household bulk items with the exception of metal and electronics for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup.

Seton Village Celebration

Join us on Friday evening, October 30 from 5:30-8:30 PM for a Seton Village Celebration! We'll share all the good news about everything happening in Seton Village and enjoy some fall family fun. We'll have food from local restaurants and fall-themed crafts for the kids.  
We'll end the festivities with a showing of The Addams Family Movie. So bring your family, your neighbors, some lawn chairs and enjoy this family-friendly community celebration shown on the front lawn of the Father Vincent Monella Italian Cultural Center located at 133 Fairview Ave.

Halloween Movie Screening

The Village at SOPAC will be hosting a free, family friendly screening of Goosebumps on Sunday, October 31 at 1:45 PM at SOPAC located at 1 SOPAC Way!
