SO Celebrates Black History Month

South Orange Village is honored to celebrate Black History Month with the South Orange Community. This year's national theme is Black Health & Wellness.
South Orange is collaborating with a number of organizations to offer a broad array of programming. Additionally, you'll find events geared toward Black Health & Wellness education. These events are designed for all of our residents to help learn, connect, and celebrate during Black History Month. Please visit the Black History Month events page for program information.

SOMA Transportation Information

Eliminate concerns about parking and get around town!
SO Senior Transportation: SO Parking Authority provides Dial-a-Ride transportation services for South Orange seniors on an ADA accessible mini-bus available Mon, Wed, and Fri, 10 am - 3:00 pm with the last ride scheduled at 2:15. For more information and to schedule a ride, please call 973-378-7715 x 2035.
SO Jitney: You can take single rides for $2 each way. For further information and new route stops, please contact
the SO Parking Authority at 973-378-7715 x 2037.
Essex County Special Transportation: Essex County offers transportation within the county for residents. The Special Transport system can extend their service area to 5 miles beyond the Essex County line in selective situations. You must register in advance and schedule your rides at least 3 days prior to the requested date. Rides can be scheduled up to 30 days in advance. For transportation outside the county, the representative can geo-code the address to determine if your location is eligible for their service. If you have difficulty securing your requested ride, ask to speak with the manager. To access Special Transportation Services, call 973-618-1280 or 973-737-7200.

Public Works Events

Metal Pickup- On Tuesday, February 22, DPW will pickup metal recyclables for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup. Metal Pickup Form
Household Bulk Pickup- On Thursday, February 24, DPW will collect household bulk items with the exception of metal and electronics for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup. Bulk Pickup Form
