Moonlit Movies
Jungle Cruise (2021) August 31, 8 PM at Floods Hill
Based on Disneyland's theme park ride where a small riverboat takes a group of travelers through a jungle filled with dangerous animals and reptiles but with a supernatural element.
Monkeypox Vaccine Clinic
Essex County will be holding a Monkeypox Vaccine clinic on Monday, August 29 from 2-7 PM. Located in the Sears Building at the Livingston Mall, 112 Eisenhower Parkway. Appointments are required. The JYNNEOS vaccine is a two dose vaccine and you will be provided with a second vaccine appointment. Please visit essexcountynj.org/health to schedule your vaccine.
Energy Aggregation Update
South Orange has been taking part in an energy aggregation program for the past several years to supply residents with greater renewable energy content at an equal or better rate by purchasing energy on behalf of its residents cooperatively with 6 other Towns as Sustainable Essex Alliance Energy Procurement Cooperative (“SEAEPC”)*. Our present contract with Energy Harbor, LLC (3rd party provider) has been providing participating Township residents power supply with enhanced renewable energy content and some savings on their electric bills since April 2021. This contract will end in September 2022 and an acceptable replacement has not been found. Community Blood & Platelet Drive
South Orange Village, in partnership with RWJ Barnabas will be hosting a blood and platelet drive on Tuesday, August 30 from 12 - 6 PM at SOPAC. Please consider donating to help support your community. Appointments are available and can be made by calling 732-235-8100 x221 or online at rwjuhdonorclub.org.
Volunteers Needed!
We are seeking interested members of the community to apply to join the founding Board of Directors of the Community Co-retail Board. This organization will support local and neighboring community makers, artists and small businesses by providing an experiential co-retail, incubation and community-building space located at 59 South Orange Ave as part of the Taylor Vose development project. We are seeking volunteers for a new Mobility Action Committee (SO-MAC). SO-MAC will prioritize and address community mobility concerns related to walking, bicycling, and other ways to get around SO. Pop-Up Jewelry Sale
The Friends of SOPL will be holding a series of pop-up jewelry sales on Thursdays throughout September. Beginning September 8 from 2-6 PM, the sale will be located at SOPL with all proceeds going to the library and all jewelry being donated by the community.
