SOMA Neighborhood Summit

The Community Coalition on Race’s Residential Committee is excited to be hosting a Neighborhood Summit on Thursday, October 20 at 6:30 PM at DeHart Community Center, 120 Burnett Avenue in Maplewood. The goal of the event is to gather and compare notes on what is happening in the neighborhoods. The evening will include an ice breaker activity, a panel discussion with representatives from multiple neighborhood associations where the moderator will be asking about successes and challenges in each neighborhood, and also any specific concerns as well as refreshments and door prizes.

Public Works Events

Paper Shred Day- Public Works will provide document shredding service to the residents of South Orange on Saturday, October 22 from 8 am until noon or until truck is full at the Public Works facility, 300 Walton Ave. Proof of residency is required to participate in this event. Commercial volume of documentation will not be accepted. If you have any questions, you can contact the Public Works Department at 973-378-7741 x1.

Seton Village's Gather Celebration

South Orange Village, Seton Village Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP), Essex County Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), and New Jersey Department of Community Affairs are pleased to announce building upgrades to the Vincent Monella Community Center at 133 Fairview Avenue in South Orange.
We are thrilled to partner with the Community Coalition on Race to celebrate building improvements as well as the CCR community public art program that led to the “Gather” installation. The Gather Celebration will be held on Saturday, October 1, 1 PM - 3 PM at 133 Fairview Ave.
