As you know we are experiencing an Air Quality issue due to the Canadian wildfires that started yesterday 6/6/2023. The small particles that are traveling through the air due to the wildfires can pose a health risk to sensitive individuals (children and teens, older residents, pregnant women) and those who have underlying health conditions (asthma, lung disease, cardiovascular disease). Individuals that fall into the sensitive category are more prone to experience negative health effects from poor air quality. However, the air quality that we are currently experiencing poses a risk to all. Everyone should limit their times outdoors, avoid physical activity outside, and wear a KN95/N95 mask outside. Regular cloth masks will NOT protect you against the small particles that are traveling through the air.
The Health Department has KN95/N95 masks at MaplewoodTown Hall. Please feel free to stop by our office to secure some masks.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to the Health Department.
