Greenway Bike Walk ParadeJoin us at the 3rd Annual South Orange Greenway Bike Walk Parade on May 19, 3-5 PM. We are closing down Meadowbrook Lane at Flood's Hill for fun in the street! The parade is open to kids and adults of all ages on foot, bicycles, tricycles, scooters, etc. A bike/scooter decorating station will kick things off before we parade around loops through Meadowland Park. There will also be free bike maintenance, bike registration, free bike bells, pedestrian and cycling safety presentation, and an ice cream truck! Rain date is Sunday, June 2, 3 - 5 PM. ArtBenderArtBender is a family-friendly celebration of creativity and self-expression in South Orange that is FREE and open to all members of the community. Art supplies will be provided for all activities, so just bring your creativity and enthusiasm for art. Bring your kids, friends, and neighbors for a day of artistic exploration and community bonding. ArtBender is made possible by Seton Village South Orange NPP (Neighborhood Preservation Program), CINC (Creative in Common), OhCanary, and the South Orange Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs.

SORS Sound The Siren 5k The SO Rescue Squad is very excited to be holding the Sound The Siren 5k event in its second year! Run or walk and then join us at the end where kids and adults alike can tour the ambulances and our headquarters and learn about Emergency Medical Services in South Orange! The 5K will be starting/finishing in front of the Rescue Squad, located at 62 Sloan St. All proceeds go to providing free Emergency Medical Services to the residents of South Orange, Maplewood, Newark and the surrounding communities. Freedom to Read New Jersey Safe Schools Coalition, and many local sponsors, are hosting the Freedom To Read program with viral sensation and recipient of the 2024 I Love My Librarian Award, Mychal Threets. Registration is open for this unique, virtual program, which takes place May 20th at 7pm.

Public Works Events Metal Pickup: Tuesday, May 21 DPW will pickup metal recyclables for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup. Metal Pickup Form Mulch & Hummus Delivery: Friday, May 24 Residents who have prescheduled will receive a mulch delivery. You can schedule a delivery via our online form. Limit one product per delivery per month. Deliveries cost $50 per drop off.
