Conversations on Race- May 13 ;7:30 PM; Bethany Hall
Confronting the Backlash Against DEI will feature a thought-provoking panel discussion with local leaders followed by small-group conversations where participants can reflect, share experiences, and discuss actionable solutions on how we can push forward in the face of resistance.

Inspired Minds: May 15 - Aug 17
INSPIRED MINDS: Young Artist Exhibition is a juried exhibit of art by Essex County high school students. Each year, thousands of submissions are juried by a panel of distinguished artists, photographers, museum curators, and arts advocates. The result is an exciting and eclectic body of work from the perspective of young emerging artists.
Opening reception is May 15 at 5 PM.

Volunteer Call!
Join the S.O. Environmental Commission and Green Team for volunteer workdays on May 10 and May 17 from 9:30-11 AM for weeding and tending. We will meet at the pollinator/native plant garden, downhill from the Tau sculpture at the corner of Ridgewood and Mead. Hundreds of new native plant seedlings have been planted and tending is needed by our neighbors!
SOMA 2 Towns

Senior Property Tax Relief
SOMA 2 Towns for All Ages will be hosting a Lunch & Learn on New Jersey Property Tax Relief for Senior Homeowners and Renters 65 and Older with a presentation with the office of Assemblywoman Garnet Hall.
This event will be held on May 19 at noon at the Baird.

Public Works Events
Metal Pickup: Tuesday, May 13
DPW will pickupmetal recyclables for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup. Metal Pickup Form
Household Bulk Pickup: Thursday, May 15
DPW will collect household bulk items with the exception of metal and electronics for residents who have prescheduled and paid for this service. There is 6 item limit for this pickup. Bulk Pickup Form
Container Day: Saturday, May 17, 8 AM; 300 Walton Ave
South Orange residents are welcome to drop off household bulk items at the Public Works facility between 8 AM and 1:30 PM. Proof of residency is required and no commercial vehicles (U-Haul's/ Home Depot rental vans) are permitted on the property. Electronics, construction material, and hazardous waste will not be accepted at these events.
