Movie Night at The Baird! Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month with a special screening of Yellow Rose — a powerful musical drama about dreams, resilience, and identity.

Yellow Rose follows Rose, a Filipina teen with country music dreams, whose world is shaken when her mother is detained by ICE. Directed by Diane Paragas, this award-winning film is a moving tribute to hope and heritage.

Join us at the Baird for a reading, songs and a craft with renowned, local author Ran Baker!

ArtBender is a joyful, all-ages celebration of creativity, self-expression, and community spirit, held annually on the front lawn of the Vincent Monella Community Center at 133 Fairview Avenue in South Orange. Founded by Danni Michaeli in partnership with NPP Seton Village, this free event invites neighbors to come together and transform public spaces through collaborative art-making.

Over the years, ArtBender projects have included painting murals, planting community gardens, and installing public artworks throughout Seton Village. A standout effort has been the multi-year transformation of Carter Park into a creative playspace, along with the development of a reading corner at the Community Center.

ArtBender is made possible through the South Orange Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs, NPP Seton Village, and creative partners including CINC (Creative in Common), Oh! Canary, and the Maplewood Bike Shed.

Join us in remembrance and gratitude as we come together to pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

South Orange Downtown is turning up the volume on Saturday, May 31, from 2–10 PM at the Sloan Street Lot (12 Sloan St, South Orange, NJ) for Under Cover Music Fest 2025 — a full day of epic cover band performances. 

This free, outdoor festival is open to all. Come hungry and thirsty — food from local favorites and drinks from the South Orange Downtown Beer Garden, featuring craft brews and hard seltzers, will be available for purchase. Families can stop by the Y-Zone, sponsored by South Mountain YMCA, from 2–6 PM for free kid-friendly games, crafts, and activities.
