Why is New Jersey so corrupt and what can be done to change it. That also includes what is happening to the news business and what it means for coverage of New Jersey, specifically, and news coverage generally. And I can take questions.
Nancy Solomon was until recently a senior reporter at WNYC, the public radio station in New York. She was the founding managing editor of New Jersey Public Radio, which won a 2014 Peabody Award for “Chris Christie, White House Ambitions and the Abuse of Power.” Previously, Solomon worked for NPR, covering New York, New Jersey and Oregon.
In 2008-09, she was a Spencer Fellow in Education Reporting at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. During that year, Solomon produced “Mind the Gap: Why Good Schools are Failing Black Students” for which she won a Peabody Award. That hour-long radio documentary details a year spent observing Columbia High School in Maplewood.
Her latest project is the podcast, “Dead End: A New Jersey Political Murder Mystery.” She is currently working on a new podcast about political corruption in New Jersey. Note: This program is in-person and is also provided on Zoom. We encourage you to come to the Ethical Culture Building as we feel you will have a more rewarding and interactive experience, and a more social one.
