Tennis Court Naming Ceremony

Join Village President Sheena C. Collum, the naming committee, friends and family at the Baird tennis courts Saturday, Sept 29 for the naming ceremony and tennis events in honor of Kenny Graham. Kenneth Allen Graham, a life-long South Orange resident who taught and championed tennis and always had kind words of advice for all, passed away last year. Neighbors and friends have since petitioned "...The courts should bear his name and a plaque memorizing his memory should be visible to all who use the Baird courts." There will be a tennis tournament in honor of Graham followed by a ribbon cutting. The committee plans to install two signs: one with a name and the other, a placard, with more information.

Essex County Fall Festival

Come celebrate the autumn equinox at the Essex County Environmental Center located at 621B Eagle Rock Ave in Roseland on Saturday, Sept 29 from 11-4. There will be fun-filled activities for the entire family to enjoy including hands-on nature games and crafts, canoeing, Native American life, pumpkin patch, petting zoo, food, and more! This event is FREE though there will be items for sale.

Essex County Paper Shredding Day

Need to get rid of sensitive and important documents and don't own a personal shredder? Essex County is holding a countywide shredding day on Saturday, Sept 29 from 9-1. This event is free and open to all of Essex County with proof of residency. Shredding day will be held at Essex County Public Works at 99 West Bradford Avenue in Cedar Grove. Road Work Around Town

As a reminder: The curb, sidewalk, and drainage work on Tichenor Ave have been rescheduled to start this week. The work will be from 7 AM to 4 PM and is planned to take 2 months, weather permitting.

If you need to park overnight on the roadway, please contact the South Orange Police Department at 973-763-3000 or the Parking Authority at 973-378-7715 x 2037 and inform them that there is roadwork on your street. Find out more information.
