Lionel Hampton Big Band

Tuesday, Oct 30 at 7:30 PM, Seton Hall University Arts Council presents Lionel Hampton Big Band. Comprised mainly of musicians who played with Lionel Hampton himself, the Band has been playing sold-out shows from New York to California. In the 1950s Hampton toured throughout the world as a goodwill ambassador and made frequent appearances on television and in March of 2015, the Lionel Hampton Estate granted permission to launch the new band featuring Jason Marsalis, with Christian Fabian, Cleave Guyton Jr and Lance Bryant as co-leaders. Admission is $25.

Halloween Fest

Halloween Festival

Wednesday, Oct 31 from 4-6 PM is South Orange's Halloween Festival held in Spiotta Park. Wanda the Witch on stilts will be back to play Halloween games and the students from SHU's Colleges Against Cancer will once again host their Creepy Corner. Stay for the costume contest where every entrant gets a gift and the winners in several categories get great prizes from local merchants. Then head out around town for trick-or-treating.

 

Early Voting Options

Can't get out to vote on Election Day? Essex County Clerk's office sponsors Early Voting by Mail (VBM) Centers. Registered voters can visit the Essex County Hall of Records from 8:30 AM - 4 PM or the South Mountain Recreation Complex from 11:30 AM - 7:00 PM until Nov 5 to cast their early vote.

Senior Housing Forum

SOMA Two Towns for All Ages presents The Senior Housing Forum on Sunday, Nov 4 from 2-4 pm at The Woodland located at 60 Woodland Rd in Maplewood. At this event, you will hear local experts cover a range of topics to help people that in their homes in the community they love. We encourage retirees, people who are considering downsizing or potentially leaving their homes, adult children helping their parents and those planning renovations for future needs to attend. The Forum is free but we ask that you register by email or by calling 973-558-0863.

 

Attend a Town Meeting

Want to get more involved in your community? Attend a meeting. You will get a first-hand look at all the ins and outs of our town and it is a great way to participate and make a difference in the town.
