Primary Elections

Make sure to get out and vote on Tuesday, June 4 in the Primary Elections. Polls are open from 6 am until 8 pm. You can find your polling location here.

Book Donation & Annual Book Sale

Friends of South Orange Public Library are hosting Book Donation Days at the Baird on Wednesday, June 5, 10 am - 3 pm and Thursday, June 6, 2 - 7 pm.
The Annual Book Sale will be on Saturday, June 8, 10 am - 4 pm and Sunday, June 9 from 10 am - 3 pm at the Baird. Friends and Teachers Shop Early! Join or renew before the sale and come for an hour of early shopping at 9 am Saturday! Teachers, bring your I.D. and stock up your next year’s classroom library!

Turtle Back Zoo Sleepover

On Saturday, June 8, enjoy a wild night filled with adventure at the Turtle Back Zoo! Observe our animals in the dark, interact with our Educators and Keepers, and discover how our zoo works behind the scenes. Our fourth annual summer TBZ Sleepover program is fun for all families who’d like to spend a night exploring the zoo in the dark while learning about TBZ’s mission of conservation and stewardship. This family-friendly event is $100/person for nonmembers, $90 for members. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit the event page.

Maplewood Electronic Waste Day

South Orange residents are welcome to use the Maplewood Public Works facility to dispose of electronics. This event is not for commercial use and residents are required to show proof of residency. Maplewood DPW is located at 359 Boyden Avenue, they will be open from 8 am until noon on Saturday, June 8. You can find a list of acceptable items here.

Attend a Town Meeting

Want to get more involved in your community? Attend a meeting. You will get a first-hand look at all the ins and outs of our town and it is a great way to participate and make a difference in the town. Please note that meetings are subject to change with short notice. Refer to our events calendar for up-to-date information.

  • Planning Board Meeting on Monday, June 3 at 7:30 pm at SOPAC
  • Board of Adjustment Meeting on Tuesday, June 4 at 7 at SOPAC
  • Community Police Collaborative (CPC) on Tuesday, June 4 at 7 pm at the Baird
  • Finance & Information Technology Committee Meeting on Friday, June 7 at 8 am at the municipal office
